The Magistrate Court of South Huvadhu Atoll Thinadhoo Begins Operation at New Premise
The Magistrate Court of Gaaf Dhaal Thinadhoo has begun services from its new office premise. The operations of the new Magistrate Court began today with the hoisting of the flag. The national flag was hoisted by Uz. Ibrahim Rasheed the temporary Chief Administrator of Gaaf Dhaal Atoll Judiciary, who is also the Magistrate. The flag of the Judiciary was hoisted by Magistrate of the Court, Uz Mohamed Zahir Hassan.
The island Court was set alight on 08 February 2012 during a protest which took place at the island. It has been a total of 04 years 01 month and 25 days since the island has functioned without a permanent building for Court operations.
The new Court premise will have 3 Court rooms and will be a more spacious Court.
Ever since the Thinadhoo Magistrate Court building was burnt down, Court services were provided from two rented buildings and from the accommodation building of the Family and Childrenâ€™s Service Centre at Thinadhoo island.
Todayâ€™s function saw the cutting of a cake made by the staff of the court in the design of the flag of the Judiciary. The cake was cut by Magistrate Uz. Ibrahim Rasheed and Uz. Mohamed Zahir Hassan. Staff of the Court took part in the function today.
