Special Reception Held to Mark the 9th Anniversary of the Supreme Court of the Maldives
A special function was held last night to mark the 9th Anniversary of the Supreme Court of the Maldives. At the function the Chief Justice of the Maldives Hon. Uz. Abdullah Saeed released the first copy of the “Law Reports of the Maldives” created under the first phase of the project carried out in collaboration with Lexis Nexis to offer easy access to court rulings for the benefit of the public and lawyers.
The first volume of the “Law Reports of the Maldives” is comprised of rulings of the Supreme Court of Maldives.
At the function the Chief Justice of the Maldives Hon. Uz. Abdullah Saeed also released the Action Plan on Juvenile Justice compiled in the Child Rights and Juvenile Justice System Symposium held at the Judges Colloquium.
The Strategic Action Plan of the Judiciary was opened for comments from the courts at the function.
The function was attended by the Chief Justice of the Maldives Hon. Uz. Abdullah Saeed and Justices of the Supreme Court, the Attorney General, Judges of the courts of Male’ and Chief Magistrates of the Judicial sector. In addition to this legal staff of the courts of Male’, Attorneys at law, Senior Staff of the Department of Judicial Administration and Judicial Academy attended the function.
In the history of the Maldives a Supreme Court was first established on 18 September 2008.
