Cases Cleared by the Courts Exceed Twenty Thousand

The courts have seen a record increase in the number of cases filed there in 2016 to that of 2015.

By the end of 2015, lower courts had received a total of 17,712 cases, while cases filed at the courts by the end of 2016 was at 20,116. Cases cleared by the courts during the year too has exceeded 20,000.

Cases Filed at the Lower Courts in 2016

An increase of 13.6 % is seen in the number of cases filed at the lower courts in 2016 to that of 2015. While 17,712 cases were filed at the lower courts in 2015, in 2016 the courts received 20,116 cases. This is an increase of 2,404 cases from 2015. The year 2016 is the first time that cases registered at the courts exceeded 20,000 mark.

Cases Cleared by the Lower Courts in 2016

An increase of 6.6% is seen in the number of cases cleared by the lower courts in 2016 to that of the previous year. While 19,372 cases were filed at the lower courts in 2016, the courts cleared 20,678 cases, which is 1,306 cases more than that of 2015.

Case Clearance Rate at 103% in 2016

Cases cleared by the courts in 2016 is significantly more than cases filed at the courts during the year. Case clearance rate of the courts in 2016 was at 103%.
